The lovely people at Vinspired are championing team V’s Emma Norris and her campaign mypoweris. It’s such a simple, and brilliant campaign, getting young people to take a look at the good in themselves.
This morning in church we did just that with our teens. Although the campaign isn’t aimed at any one group of youth in particular, it fits oh so well with what the Bible has to say about each person and their worth. Not for nothing does the psalmist say:
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14) He knew what his power was.
We took a look at Romans 12 in the Message version, because each young person has been made for God, the way they are, talents, likes, dislikes… for a reason. There is no mistake, God has made each one brilliantly and the Bible tells us that:
…since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvellously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.
No more having to worry about being better, thinner fitter or more beautiful, we can go ahead and be ourselves. That’s real power. Here is what a few of the group said… #mypoweris
