They say there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but we all know it isn’t true.
You find it on the way. This is true for our dreams, our relationships and our worship.
Think of all the people you love and who love you in return – isn’t it being with them that brings out the worth? And isn’t a commercial lie that the “perfect” relationship is attainable? Isn’t that just a cause for misery? It makes you discontent with all you have and bring on a longing for the moon when you know you will jolly well never have it.
I would love to be a published author, but if that is all I longed for, rather than savouring the journey of writing for pleasure, it is very likely I will end up empty handed and bitter.
And if I am a Christian just so I can get to heaven when I die… haven’t I missed the point entirely? Jesus has given us the moon and more and it is found in an ever deepening relationship with him right now.
Like all relationships, it doesn’t come pre-packaged and perfect, because lets face it, even though Jesus is, we are not. So we find the treasure of heaven within our every day lives and whether or not we approach them with Jesus… or without him.
Because the kingdom of heaven is here right now, not just pie in the sky when you die.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also
