Something new, something old and preferably nothing blue.

So apparently the meaning of my life starts today, as I turn 42 😊

And I am planning to take hold of this coming year with both hands.

I saw a @tearfundlife  article recently on how our lives can be a place:

where the outsider is brought close, the excluded are ushered in and the down-trodden are given refuge.

This matters a great deal to me and I want my life to be:

a roaring fireplace of safety and warmth, rather than a mat that tells you to wipe the dirt from your feet before entering.

So figuring out what that looks like this year is my top priority.

I have other priorities, never stop learning, keep on being creative, find wonder wherever I can and stay well.

So my something new is going to be joining a flower arranging club in January.

My something old will be continuing the diploma I have been doing… well forever really. And the future learn courses I have on the go, and maybe one or two more.
Finally I intend to keep in top of my health, so no blue for me hopefully,  just the gym, proper sleep, lots of prayer and healthy food.

I wonder, what would your old, new and not blue things be?

Recent  #inspirational finds

There is always so much to see on the Internet and just put and about. I thought I would share some of the things that have inspired me recently.

Bullet journaling

I have been organising myself using a bullet journal for the lady couple of weeks. I really like the concept and I also I like how customisable the who thing is. My day pages have a diary space, room for notes and the weather as well as a day journal and scripture  journal:

I also have some goal pages:

Action for happiness, the Blurt Foundation and TWLOHA

Have all posted cool stuff recently:

And last but not least

The young people I work with inspire me all the time. This felted star was made by a young man in my lunch club – he had never touched a felting needle before:

#Deadpool and preparing for camp #nanowrimo

So camp nanowrimo starts next week and I have been reading about first, second and third person via grammar girl.

It got me thinking about films and how clever some of them are. Take Deadpool for example.

Written as most fictional films are, on the third person, it allows the viewer to suspend disbelief and enter into the world being portrayed.

And then Deadpool goes screaming into the second person as the writers cause him to speak directly to us, the viewer.

It’s so utterly clever because having suspended our disbelief we are then invited nut just to witness the story but participate.

Audience hook, line and sinker I think 😊

100 Themes Challenge Writing Prompts

Life is very busy at the moment, certainly as far as head space goes anyway, so sadly I wont be attempting nanowrimo this year.

But I still want to write.

So I am setting myself a little challenge of my own, to write creatively each day through November. This list of prompts seems like a good place to prepare…

Scribbling on the Computer

A list of prompts has been floating around on the internet – I was told it originated on DeviantART – and after having successfully used the prompts, I share them with you.  You pick a list (I have two right here) and write something for each theme.  Poems, drabbles, short stories, journal entries, anything. A group of us from Holy Worlds are using the list to outline an entire novel to be written for NaNoWriMo. I just finished my outline today. 😀 You would be shocked to find how easy it is to create an entire, round, detailed plot just by using each theme to create a scene.

The Original List
1. Introduction
2. Complicated
3. Making History
4. Rivalry
5. Unbreakable
6. Obsession
7. Eternity
8. Gateway
9. Death
10. Opportunities
11. 33%
12. Dead Wrong
13. Running Away
14. Judgment
15. Seeking Solace
16. Excuses
17. Vengeance

Digital #smashbooking, a couple of #apps and today’s #projectlife

I have been playing around with the app “layout” as a way of digital journaling. I quite like it, although I think I still prefer cutting and sticking, it makes a nice change. So this was today:

I also tried out the app “instaweather” (see top left of the collage) which is really cute – I can see myself using it a lot.
Anyway, today has been very peaceful, I have got some jobs done, eaten ice cream, walked, meditated, read the bible and been creative, so today definitely counts as a win 🙂

#Biblestudy #smashbook style…

Bible study is one of those things i feel i ought to be able to do with enthusiasm every day. Sadly it doesn’t always work out that way. So, i am always on the look for reading the Bible in ways which will bring me closer to God.

It dawned on me today, that perhaps I could put two things I love together… So smash book scripture it is!

I have a book called search the Scriptures, which I am going to do smash book style and I started today:
