#Happiness costs everything and nothing at all.
Apparently it’s international happiness day today. It got me thinking about what makes me happy. Lots of simple things actually, running, growing things, craft, cups of tea…
But none of those things are at the heart of my happiness. Right there at the core, flowing into everything thing I am and do, it my relationship with Jesus. His tender care, his compassion and patient. His wise words in times of crisis and his laughter on times of joy.
I could not be without him. I truly love who he is and you could not ask for a better friend.
The bible demonstrates that Jesus asks us to give our all, to take up our crosses and follow him. But if ever there was a way to get more than you give, it’s by following Jesus.
It costs everything and nothing at all.
Psalm 1 verses 1 to 3 put it well:
Happy are those
who reject the advice of evil people,
who do not follow the example of sinners
or join those who have no use for God.
Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord,
and they study it day and night.
They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
that bear fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do.
