Photos and thanks 28_08_2013

Today’s photo blurs into something beautiful as there were so many nice things to see while out with the dog. But before that, today I have learnt the importance of visiting the sick. OK so I already knew this, the Bible tells us to do it, Mother Teresa has a word or two on it, like this one:

“The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.”

― Mother Teresa, A Simple Path by Mother Teresa

But there is nothing like seeing Jesus in the eyes of a dying man and having the truth stamped on your soul.  Meet Dwight Peterson. What he has to say for a mere eight minutes is worth hearing. He is worth hearing:

Visit the sick

And so I find myself  thankful for all those people in my life who have stopped and listened to me when I have been off work, loved me by turning up and visiting me when I was ill. Dwight is so very right when he says it is a gift from God.
