Today’s poetry 30/07/13

We grow fat in the west

On the hunger of others

And wash away our conscience

with skin deep plastic logic

Of our own smaller pay packs

Forgetting all the while

That even if money is tight

We will never have to wonder

Where our sisters, nieces, children are

Or if they will ever return from the slavery

Our poverty has forced.

Fear of rejection

Than my knowing of your love

Oh misery

Grow mindfulness of your light

Love drawing in my heart

Oh heaven

Refreshing rain falls

Earth relieved from a long drought

Sweet love remembered
